MICHAEL P. SEGUIN

President of the Blue Mountain Ratepayers Association 2008/2009

Michael Seguin has been a property owner in the Town of the Blue Mountains since 1992 and a full time resident since 2001. He is a professional property appraiser who attained his accreditation with the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 1981 and now practices with the firm of Andrew Thompson & Associates Ltd. from Barrie and Thornbury. Michael specializes primarily in the appraisal of commercial, industrial and investment properties for all purposes (i.e. acquisition, disposal, lease, potential litigation, etc.). He has served on various Appraisal Institute Boards and Committees, serving as Chairman of the Toronto Chapter AIC in 1986. Michael recently served as spokesperson for approximately 50-60 families on Peel and Cameron Streets and successfully challenged the construction of a municipal industrial garage in a residential neighbourhood along Peel Street in Thornbury. His experience in dealing with the Town of Blue Mountain’s Council and administrative staff over the “garage issue” has been valuable in finding ways to address other important issues that impact the ratepayers in the local community. Michael’s role in the association over the past three years has included writing numerous articles for the newsletter, membership, web master and treasurer’s duties.
